1/27/14    One Month In...

So we're almost 1/12th of the way through 2014.  How's that ambitious fitness goal working out for you?  If you're like most people, you've already given up.  You jumped in head-first, went to the gym a few times, maybe hit the treadmill once or twice and then you realized two things: 1) It's really hard... harder than you thought it would be and 2) You have no idea what you're doing.  You started strong, but now you're thinking of giving up.  It's so much easier to just stay home, right?  Well let me be the first to tell you, it's OK to feel like this.  Pretty much everyone does at some point.  Seriously.  Take a deep breath and don't get down on yourself.  This is what is known as the "roller coaster" of fitness.  I've experienced it myself on a fairly regular basis.

     So what now?  What should you do?  First, find some accountability.  There are few things that will help get you to the gym as consistently as knowing that someone is going to ask you if you went!  Even better, find a partner!  Having someone who will work out with you is often the missing link in the whole chain.  Thirdly, get some instruction.  Don't be afraid to ask a trainer for help.  It's what they do!  Even if you're someone who is already fit, you can never learn enough!  Anyone who claims to have "arrived" and "figured it all out" is either lying or delusional.

     Remember, you CAN do this!  You can make 2014 the year that you become the person you've always hoped you could be.  I believe in you!  Now it's time for YOU to believe in you.
